Lykke Li @ the Vic Theatre, 11/14/11
Two days later, and we still can’t stop swapping stories at the office about our Lykke Li experience. The Swedish indie-pop sensation was a rare force on the Vic’s stage, belting her soul with the unexaggerated cool of an old friend. Fans of all ages packed the floor chest-to-back dancing to “I Follow Rivers,” filling in the chorus of “Little Bit,” and trying to imitate her effortless psychedelic bravado. This energy only gained momentum with her goose bump-inducing rendition of The Righteous Brother’s “Unchained Melody” and a Kanye West “Power” sample capping her “Youth Knows No Pain.” Oh and add in Lykke Li playing the drums, kazoo, autoharp and singing into a megaphone. Basically, there is nothing left to do post show but adore her and wait patiently for her next Chicago performance.
