Spotify Launches in the U.S.
Spotify, an online music service provider that has found huge success in Europe, launched earlier this morning in the U.S. After recently securing contracts with all of the major record labels ASCAP, Spotify boasts a catalogue of over 15 million songs, which registered users will have unlimited access to, allowing them to create playlists, share with their friends, and discover new music. Lady Gaga’s YouTube Account Suspended
Despite being one of the largest on the site, Lady Gaga’s YouTube channel was suspended earlier today for copyright violation. The singer recently uploaded footage of her performance on a Japanese television show, SMAP x SMAP, which led to a copyright infringement claim from Media Interactive.
American Idol, Glee Score Emmy Nods
Emmy nominations were announced earlier this morning, and “Glee” and “American Idol” led the pack of music-oriented programming with 12 and 10 nominations, respectively. Other music programs that picked up nominations include “So You Think You Can Dance”, “The 53rd Annual Grammy Awards”, and “Lady Gaga Presents the Monster Ball Tour: At Madison Square Garden”.
